Norway – Environmental monitoring other than for construction – Økosystemovervåking i store innsjøer - ØKOSTOR (2026-2031)

The programme ensures monitoring of ecological condition and development in a selection of the largest Norwegian lakes. Through the Water Directive (WFD 2000/60/EC), Norway has committed to administering all water in Norway in a comprehensive ecological way. The directive aims at safeguarding or achieving good environmental conditions in the water sources. Norway also have national and international obligations for some of our lakes as they are special and are not available in the rest of Europe.
