Ireland – Medical equipments, pharmaceuticals and personal care products – Children's Health Ireland (CHI) Supply and Integration of a Deymed Diagnostic Cortical Stimulator

This is a voluntary ex ante transparency (VEAT) notice. This notice acknowledges that Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) proposes to contract with Neurogen Ltd. for the supply and integration of a Deymed Diagnostic Cortical Stimulator. Neurophysiology equipment for the new Children’s Hospital (NCHI) was procured through Tender Reference HSE 18158 in August 2024. This procurement included the TruScan EEG Neurophysiology Management System, supplied by Neurogen Ltd and manufactured by Deymed Diagnostic s.r.o. The TruScan EEG Neurophysiology Management System will be integrated with the hospitals Electronic Health Record (EHR), enabling seamless electronic transfer of ADT and worklist information from the EHR to the TruScan system. At the time of tendering for neurophysiology equipment the requirement for a cortical stimulator was not identified. Currently, paediatric epilepsy patients requiring stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) are referred to another adult hospital under a service level agreement. This arrangement places a burden on patients and families. The procurement of the Deymed Cortical Stimulator will enable CHI to conduct functional cortical mapping as part of SEEG procedures in-house, improving continuity of care and clinical outcomes. Integrating the Deymed Diagnostic Cortical Stimulator with the Deymed TruScan EEG Neurophysiology Management System will enable real-time correlation of stimulation and EEG data, ensuring streamlined operation and ease of use for the clinical team. It will also facilitate the charting of stimulation parameters into the EHR, supporting automated clinical documentation in alignment with CHI’s strategic objectives. The Deymed Cortical Stimulator is the only solution that will offer this level of integration with the Deymed Truscan EEG and Neurophysiology Management System. Neurogen\Deymed have confirmed this exclusivity. Deymed Diagnostic is currently registering the cortical stimulator and this process is expected to complete in Q1 2026. Should Deymed’s product release be delayed, Neurogen/Deymed has committed to providing CHI with an Inomed ISIS Cortical Stimulator on a temporary basis at no additional cost. Early procurement is necessary to allow CHI to begin functional cortical mapping as part of SEEG procedures at CHI Temple Street hospital in advance of clinical services transferring to the new NCHI. There are no technically, clinically, financially, or administratively reasonable or viable alternative or substitute solutions that could be implemented other than the Deymed Cortical Stimulator system.
