Denmark – Optical-fibre cables – Purchase of optical fibres

DTU intends to order 4 (four) different types of custom optical fibers for an application in astronomical spectroscopy. The specifications of the fibers are as follows: Fiber1: 500m of 50/125/250 microns core/cladding/coating sized fiber of NA 0.22 with an octagonal shaped core and an Acrylate coating. Fiber2: 500m of 32x96/150/250 microns core/cladding/coating sized fiber of NA 0.22 with a rectangular shaped core and an Acrylate coating. Fiber3: 500m of 32x128/267/400 microns core/cladding/coating sized fiber of NA 0.22 with a rectangular shaped core and an Acrylate coating. Fiber4: 500m of 32x32/125/250 microns core/cladding/coating sized fiber of NA 0.22 with a rectangular shaped core and an Acrylate coating. All fibers are optimized for the visual spectral range and have a small focal ratio degradation. DTU intends to place a direct order with CeramOptec, as these fibers are highly specialized and optimized for the specific application.
