Iceland – Construction work for sports facilities – Financial contribution for reconstruction of the KR football stadium in Frostaskjól

The City of Reykjavík has entered into an agreement with Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (KR) for a financial contribution to support the reconstruction of the KR football stadium at Frostaskjól. The total amount of the contribution is ISK 518,100,000, of which ISK 192,711,630 was paid in 2025 and the remainder will be paid in annual instalments during 2026–2028. The project involves reconstruction of the main football field, including works on substructure, heating system, irrigation, and installation of new artificial turf, as well as related groundworks and technical facilities. The purpose of this publication is to ensure transparency. The agreement does not represent a competitive procurement procedure under Directive 2014/24/EU but a financial grant agreement with the local football club, which owns and operates the facility.
