New Power Management System for Arni Fridriksson HF 200 II. Current propulsion power management system is from the building period of the vessel, between year 1997 and 2000 and needs to be replaced. The replacement systems must comply to Bureau Veritas rules and regulations for this type of vessel. The propulsion system is a diesel electric system with AC current. The electric system is generated with prime power generators with a three wire and three phase 690 volts current at 60 Hz. The prime movers are four sets of (4) generators of make Caterpillar 3512B that produce 1080 kW each, total 4,3 MW. The propulsion motor is of make Astholm and has 3.3 MW (3300KW) rated output power at 150 to 172 rpm. The motor has synchronous double winding, three phase each. It is composed of two separate windings with their relevant independent and autonomous control. The field of the propulsion motor is supplied by the two independent excitation bridges.
