Germany – Research and development services and related consultancy services – Project "Cascade"

The project „Cascade“ involves the development of a modern DNSSEC signer that enables the cryptographic signing of DNS data in order to ensure the best possible protection against manipulation. As a central element of the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) – an extension of the DNS protocol – the signer ensures that DNS responses are authentic and unaltered. As part of the project, Cascade is being implemented in the memory-safe programming language Rust in order to eliminate identified security vulnerabilities, improve test pipelines, optimise user-friendliness, and introduce monitoring and surveillance functions, thereby making the component more secure and user-friendly in the long term in the public interest.
