Iceland – Turbine rotors – Preliminary Market Consultation for Kaplan turbine upgrade

Landsvirkjun, Iceland’s National Power Company, is the largest producer of electricity in the country, is inviting suppliers to participate in a preliminary market consultation (PMC) for Kaplan upgrade at Steingrímsstöð. Steingrímsstöð is equipped with two Kaplan turbine units commissioned in 1959 and 1960. Over the years, both units have experienced water ingress into the turbine hub, with unit 1 showing significantly more. The scope of this project is to refurbish or renew the Kaplan turbine systems at Steingrímsstöð in a way that ensures reliable, leak-free operation and optimal efficiency. Landsvirkjun would like to discuss both options with potential bidders and therefore invites suppliers to participate in this PMC.
