Belgium – Environmental services – Support for the implementation of the EU pledge on three billion additional trees by 2030

The EU pledge for three billion additional trees in the EU was announced in 2020 (EU Biodiversity Strategy). The implementation of the pledge depends greatly on initiatives at national and subnational level. A roadmap for its implementation with milestones was published in 2021 (EU Forest Strategy). Building on the accomplished milestones (https://environment.ec.europa.eu/strategy/biodiversity-strategy-2030/3-billion-trees_en), the contractor will further promote the implementation of the EU pledge. In particular, it will promote the uptake of the pledge by liaising with potentially interested stakeholders (public and private organisations of land and forest owners, foresters, national and sub-national authorities) in all Member States; it will organise webinars and seminars/conferences; it will support the Commission on the outreach and organisation of the yearly three billion trees award.
