The Health Services Executive (HSE) is exploring technical solutions to assist with Data Dictionary management to provide internal and external stakeholders with key information collected by or for the HSE. The proposed solution also needs to include governance management processes to capture decisions within the Dataset Specification Management Process (DSMP).  A data dictionary is a “super catalogue” that provides, for each data field or element, a list of information describing the field, where the data originates, edits or rules that apply to that field, type and width of field, description of codes used (if any), what applications or reports use that data element.
