Norway – Research and development services and related consultancy services – ELDERLY - Integration of older immigrants

The R&D project on the integration of older immigrants is divided into two parts. The first part revolves around newly arrived refugees, living with public aid, who are above the age limit for having statutory entitlement to an introductory program, where Norway the purpose is to obtain knowledge about how older refugees are experiencing the settlement process, how municipalities work with this group, what is important for good settlement of this group and what to avoid. The aim of this part will be to obtain more knowledge about what it takes for this group to integrate into society and get a worthy old age, identify measures that politicians, IMDi and municipalities can implement to promote integration of this group and not least bring the research field on older immigrants further. Particularly important here are challenges connected to older immigrants ́ job opportunities in a competence-intensive labour market in view of the major differences in formal competence between older immigrants and the majority population.
