Luxembourg – Social research services – ESPON SECC - Spill-over effects of European capitals of culture on territorial development

This targeted analysis will collect territorial evidence to assess the long-term development impact of the ECOC initiative on host cities and their surrounding regions. It will explore how ECOC influences cultural development, economic growth and social cohesion by examining in detail different types of governance mechanisms which are set up between local administrations and private entities to ensure implementation of the ambitious cultural programmes of the ECOC.
