Belgium – Economic research services – Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment in support of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between the EU and Thailand

A Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA) is an ex-ante analysis of the potential economic, social and environmental impacts as well as human rights impacts of a trade negotiation in order to facilitate a better policy mix and coherence between the objectives of trade liberalisation and the EU policy objective of sustainable development and respect for human rights. It is a tool to assist trade negotiators to fine tune their position, in order to maximise the contribution of trade policy to all pillars of sustainable development and human rights. This project relates to the resumptions of the negotiations for the Thailand Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
