Norway – Veterinary services – Veterinary duty services

The municipalities are responsible for organising clinical veterinary duty services. The municipalities shall also ensure satisfactory access to services from animal health personnel. For clinical veterinary surgeons emergency preparedness, this applies for a total number of options. The scheme with veterinary duties is established in accordance with the Act of 15. j uni 20 01 no. 75om veterinary surgeons and other animal health personnel § 3 a. The scheme with veterinary duties shall ensure that clinical guards are established in all parts of the country by municipal/intermunicipal management, so that veterinary help can catastrophe during ordinary working hours. The veterinary duty is a necessary way to prepare against serious infectioussame animal diseases and it is important for established good animal welfare.
