The project Technology and Socio-Economic Development for Renewable Energies and Green Hydrogen in Algeria "TaqatHy" aims at strengthening Algeria"s economic development by making greater use of Renewable Energies & Green Hydrogen (RE&GH2) adhering to the Algerian policy. TaqatHy project is the combination of four components focussing on: - Large and medium scale RE power plants (focus on solar, wind) and its economic effects, - Development of a GH2/Power-to-X-sector geared towards exportation, and also exploring local GH2 applications. The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) is the project's political partner, in addition to a range of public and private implementing partners. TaqatHy is designed to develop the technical, institutional, and strategic capacities of relevant public and private actors in the Algerian renewable energy sector in order to support the rapid development of large- and medium-scale renewable energies, including: - Optimised integration of renewable energy capacities into the grid, including the optimisation of the call for tenders as well as the associated financial mechanisms. - Development of local value chains that include the quality infrastructure (QI) required for the efficient operation of the local market. TaqatHy aims to promote sustainable development while supporting a sustained focus on gender via support of women participation in the RE and GH2 fields.
