Belgium – Construction work for pipelines, communication and power lines – Qualification System for Telecom works - Construction of optical fiber connections in the HV network

The optical fiber links in the ELIA network are of the order of 3 types : - Underground optical connection made by placing a HDPE pipe in a trench and/or a drilled hole, followed by blowing a conventional OF cable into the HDPE pipe. - Optical aerial connection made by placing an OPGW cable or an OF cable wound between the HV line towers. The optical aerial connection is terminated on the two end pylons of the HV line. The overhead line is extended by an underground connection into the building. - A combined aerial and underground connection of the two previous types and is used for cable/line transitions. Fibre-optic connection works between ELIA sites are subdivided into : - Civil engineering works: trenching, drilling, pipe laying, MH placement, etc. - Optical works: blowing OF cables, execution of junction boxes, execution of optical patch panels, installation of the OMDF rack, etc. ELIA has also defined 5 different subcategories for the works related to the installation of the Telecommunications Infrastructure. These 5 subcategories have been defined as follows : - Subcategory Ground Works: for all earthworks-civil works for the construction of optical connections BETWEEN ELIA's HV substations. - Subcategory Fiber Optic Works: for all underground fiber optic works for the construction of optical connections BETWEEN ELIA's HV stations. - Subcategory OPGW Works : for all OPGW fiber optic (aerial) works for the construction of optical connections BETWEEN ELIA's HV stations. - Subcategory Campus & Trunking :for all earthworks and all underground fiber optic works for the construction of campus & trunking connections IN ELIA's HV substations. - Subcategory Cu Trunking : for all works for the construction of Cu Trunking connections as well as TDM patching IN the Elia HS Posts. The candidate will have to specify the subcategories of work for which he intends to apply
