Malta – IT services: consulting, software development, Internet and support – Provision, Implementation, Maintenance, and Support of a Single Comprehensive Electronic Medical Records System (EMR) for the Public National Healthcare System in Malta

: The Ministry for Health and Active Ageing is planning to issue a tender for the Provision, Implementation, Maintenance, and Support of a Single Comprehensive Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) for the Public National Healthcare System in Malta. The aim is to replace the current Order Communications Systems with an off-the-shelf, best-of-breed EMR solution to significantly impact and increase the efficiency, access to, and quality of healthcare services in Malta and Gozo. Furthermore, through the EMR, the project will gradually eliminate the patient paper records within hospitals and transition to a fully digitised Maltese Public health system, including the replacement of several legacy systems and the integration of various solutions already in place within the hospitals. This will lead to the centralisation of an electronic patient record incorporating a comprehensive view of each patient’s healthcare record, shortening the time needed to access all the information by the healthcare professional, and providing quicker responses to the patient's healthcare needs. In addition, the Ministry for Health and Active Ageing is seeking to use advanced AI technologies, integrated as part of the EMR system, to assist healthcare professionals in their daily work.
