The information given in this notice is preliminary and subject to change as the preparations proceed. The notice is not binding in any way. The notice includes a request for interested parties to send their contact details and technical product information by July 27th 2025 at the latest to atte.s.heikkinen@vr.fi using the subject “RFI – freight wagons”. This market research is only used to obtain information about the freight wagons available on the market. Basic requirements: •Wheelset shall be suitable for Finnish 1524 gauge •Structural gauge should be FIN1 •The operating temperature class should be T2 ( -40…+30 C) •Top speed 100km/h Other information: VR’s existing freight wagon fleet consists of over 8500 wagons. The fleet is aging and slowly approaching end of lifecycle. The existing freight wagon fleet consists of different types of wagons suitable for various transport needs. Solutions for following types of goods could be offered: hydrogen, acids, carbon dioxide, fuels, oil, roundwood, wood chips, covered- and open wagons etc. Therefore, different types of wagons may be needed, but a modular concept allowing different load compartments to be mounted on the same frame could be useful and appreciated. Wagons are preferably to be purchased, but leasing option can also be considered.
