Norway – Construction work – E39 Fløyfjellstunnelen - replacement of shaft ventilation

The work consists of replacing the shaft ventilation on the E39 Fløyfjell tunnel. The existing ventilation is from the construction year (1989) and has reached the expected lifetime. The tunnel consists of two lanes where shaft ventilation is located at the end of the individual lanes seen from the direction of travel. The work to be carried out consists of demolition of the existing installation and the establishment of of a new installation. The existing installation includes i.a. shaft fans, concrete walls, damper arrangements, temporary scaffolding, electrical installation and cables. The new installations include i.a. shaft ventilators, technical buildings, new electrical installations and cabling, dividing walls and fences. There is no option for locks downtime in the form of a closure of the tunnel. This is both to reduce the load on bypass routes and auka traffic in the central area. The tunnel is high traffic (ANNUAL DAILY traffic of approx. 45,000 for both lanes).
